meaning of Islam, A lot of people often ask about the meaning of Islamic religion .so it is necessary for us to discuss the understanding of Islam and also about the meaning of Islam itself.

The understanding Islam can be explored from two aspects, namely linguistic and terminological aspects. In terms of language, Islam comes from the Arabic word Salima which connotes safe, prosperous, and peaceful. From the word of Salima then converted into the form which means surrendering aslama enter in peace. Therefore, those who submit, submissive and obedient to Allah. referred to as Muslims.

From the description given above, it can be deduced that the word Islam in terms of language implies obedience, submission, obedience, and trust in Allah Almighty. in an effort to find safety and happiness in this world and the hereafter. This was done on self-awareness and willingness, not coercion or pretend to be,

The understanding of Islam in terms of the term, such as expressed by  Prof. Dr Harun Nasution. Related to the expression concerning the Islam  is the true way of life  ,In Western societies, Islam is often associated with the term Muhammadanism and Muhammedan. This terminology arises because in general the religion outside of Islam its name was based on the name of its founder. such as Buddhism, the religion was attributed to the figure of its founder, Siddhartha Gautama Buddha (born 560 BC). Similarly, the name of the Jewish religion was based on the Jews (Jews) who comes from a country of Judah (Judea) or Judas.

Based on the evidence, according to the term, Islam refers to the religion that originates in the revelation that came from God Almighty, not of man/prophet Muhammad. The position of the Prophet in Islam is recognized as the person who was assigned by God to spread the teachings of Islam to mankind. In the process of the spread of Islam, the prophet engaged in giving evidence, explanations, descriptions, and procedures for worship. The involvement of this prophecy is already in the guidance of Allah.

As the way of life, Islam is a religion that comes from Allah. The name of Islam is a remarkable difference in the name of other religions. The word Islam does not have contact with certain people, certain groups, or certain states. The word Islam is the name given by Allah. It can be understood from the instructions verses of the Qur'an that Allah revealed.

In terms of its teaching mission, Islam is a religion throughout human history. The religion of all the prophets and messengers who had been sent by Allah. On different groups of people and many people who were in this world. Islam is the religion of Adam, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, David, Solomon, Jesus, Muhammad. In other words, all prophets and messengers are Muslims and presenting Islam to carry out flyers. It can be understood from the revelations contained in the Qur'an that affirm that the Prophet is among those who submit to Allah.

In conclusion, Islam literally means submission, obedience, and peace. Meanwhile, according to the terms, Islam is a religion revealed by God to guide people to the right path and the appropriate nature of humanity. Islam was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad is not only, but also revealed to all prophets and messengers. Indeed, all the prophets and apostles teach Islam to the people. And Allah knows best.to support that Islam is the only one religion as the true way of life of mankind here is the statement of God such as below :

The Qur'an states:

Surely the religion with Allah (is) Islam ... Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it occasionally will not be accepted (the religion) thereof. (Ali 'Imraan 3: 19.85).

Koran said this is because the word 'Islam' itself means to surrender to God the Creator. Furthermore, the Qur'an also states:

Those who believe, Jews, the Christians and the Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord, there is no fear for them, and not (also ) they grieve. (Al-Baqarah 2:62).
